Details of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

This Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is second most popular trek routes in Nepal after Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. In fact this trek is popular even among native and foreign tourists as well. In addition, it is an easily accessible trek route also since this route being nearby to the beautiful city Pokhara.

Indeed Ghorepani (2874m) – Poon hill (3210m) is home to Dhaulagiri mountain range which is an earthly heaven for all mountain lovers. On the other hand, this region overlooks the truly breathtaking Himalayan panorama in the north. These Himalayas are namely Gurja Peak, Mt Tukuche, Mt Dhampus, Mt Nilgiri, Annapurna-1, Annapurna South, Mt Himchuli, Mt Gangpurna and Mt Machhapuchhere (Fish Tail).

Firstly this trek starts from Nayapul (an hours’ drive from Pokhara) from where the fun part of trek begins. Initially you will follow the course of the village and its scenic beauty. This also includes natural farmland, lush green hills and natural waterfalls. One can relish upon the view of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri upon reaching Ghorepani. In the same way Poon hill offers view of mountains and sunrise which is probably single most done thing in trekking universe. Additionally “Ghandruk Village” is another attraction in this trek. Furthermore this village is an inhabitant of Gurung community famously known as “Gurkhas” worldwide.

Likewise sunrise time during which the suns’ rays roll out over the mighty mountains consequently leaves travelers thrilled and amazed with beauty of the Himalayas. Equally important this region is rich in nature and cultural diversity. A mixed culture of Gurung, Magar and Thakali resides in this region. Hence one can enjoy the true cultural diversity throughout this trekking.

Itinerary of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Day 01:
Upon arrival in Kathmandu our office representative will meet you at the airport. Transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at hotel on BB plan.

Day 02:
A full day Kathmandu sightseeing with tour guide. You will visit highlights of Kathmandu ­specifically Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swaymbhunath and Patan Durbar Square.

Day 03:
Subsequently drive to Pokhara (910m/2986ft) by tourist bus (6 hours). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04:
After breakfast drive from Pokhara to Naya Pul (New Bridge) for an hour and trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4905ft). Trek time is 3-4 hours. Overnight at the guest house.

Day 05:
Early morning trek from Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani (2850m/9350ft). Trek time is 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Day 06:
Start your day today early in the morning from Ghorepani to nearby Poon Hill. Here you can enjoy view of sun rising from the Himalayas. Afterwards we hike back and start our journey towards Tadapani (2520m/8268ft). Trekking 5-6 hours. Overnight at the guest house.

Day 07:
Again trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (2310m/7579ft). Trekking 5-6 hours. Overnight at the guest house.

Day 08:
Trek from Ghandruk to Jhinu (hot springs) (3150m/10,335ft) (trek 5-6 hours). Overnight at the guest house.

Day 09:
Start trek from Jhinu to Naya Pul (4-5 hours) and then drive to Pokhara (1 hour). Take a short flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu (25 minutes).

Day 10:
Drive/Fly back to Kathmandu. Leisure time.

Day 11:
After breakfast you will be dropped to Kathmandu International Airport for your final flight departure from Nepal.
